- 2/2 for 2 more seconds of (Note, was nerfed to last 2 seconds shorter without this talent).- 3/3 is a heal for up to 6% of your health. Here are a few examples of 2-3 point talents that I feel are overpriced: The end result is that you feel ripped off for all the mediocre traits you spent 2 to 3 points on, just because otherwise you couldn't move down the tree. On top of this, many of the filler talents to get down the tree are wildly expensive if you consider power per point, so when you finally get everything you want and go back for more utility, you fall short. Because of this, you end up taking a lot of talents that you don't want to just get to these good talents. To illustrate this design better, I have color-coded the paths in Photoshop to show the general idea.Īs a Mage, the main things you want are, or, or, and whichever of the capstones (, , ) you have points for. The end result of this design is that you take many talents you don't want because it's the only way to move down the tree to the stuff you actually want. Because of this, you are locked into always moving down paths to get to talents you want, only breaking from this for a few crossroads in the middle. Mage Dragonflight Talent Tree - First ImpressionsĪs mentioned above, the intent with this tree seems to be that you are locked into a path as you move down the tree. Each path ends with a chain of talents in a direct line, leading to a powerful "capstone" trait. The left path primarily focuses on Frost spells, the middle is Arcane themed, and the right is Fire. Moving down the tree, we have three separate "paths" that alternate between a choice of side traits and a middle trait that is usually more valuable than the sides. The idea of being able to choose what utility to bring to a fight is exciting, but does this tree allow for this?Īt the top of the tree we have your standard abilities such as, , and. Many of the other class tree traits are directly copied from conduits, I won't list them all but basically every Endurance and Finesse conduit for Mage in Shadowlands has also found its way into the tree. In addition to returning abilities, we also have new stat scaling traits like and. The biggest impact is probably gaining and from Arcane and from Frost, but there are other examples such as, ,, ,, and. With the new talent system, Fire Mage is gaining access to many passives and abilities that were previously unobtainable. The idea of choosing your own build from the ground up is an interesting one, but the success of such a system will ultimately fall on how well designed and tuned the trees are in the first place. The points we gain as we level are used to learn abilities and empower existing ones, in order to reach deeper into the tree and unlock more options. Each specialization is getting access to a shared class talent tree and a spec specific one. Many spells are now learned as we level by picking out talent choices. The Dragonflight expansion is introducing a revised version of the talent trees with branching paths and many choices for players. In an encounter where you lust the end, this talent would be essentially useless in its current form. Making it a new spell would allow the Mage to actually decide when to use this instead of being held back by party and raid lusting timings. This isn't a legendary anymore and there is no real reason this shouldn't just be a new spell that gives you 30% haste for 40 seconds, on a 5 min cooldown (that doesn't stack with / / / ). Is a good idea but there are some obvious issues. This is the same as the legion lust ring except that it requires you to be. - Melee attacks while affected by barrier have a chance to give, charge, or.- Successful interrupts cause a on the enemy.Keep in mind that these are not implemented yet, so we just have the spell data to go off of for now.
